A DAY IN THE LIFE / rehearsals.

11:25:00 PM

It's that busy time of year again in a dancer's life. The end of another hectic season.

Rehearsals, rehearsals, compiled on top of more rehearsals. This week we hit the theatre for our first onstage run throughs for our production of Don Quiote.

My pointe shoes are nearly dead and I'm hoping to hold onto them for another week. Please tough it out, shoes! (Rather, I should be telling myself to tough it out. My feet hurt so bad in them since they're overworked.) Anyhow, on with my day...
Before making it to the theatre, I went to Whole Foods to grab some lunch/dinner for the remainder of the day. Now, everyone knows how much I love Whole Foods, it's no surprise, really. I walk around with either a different Whole Foods reusable or paper bag everyday.
Easily one of the best salads I've had lately. I love peashoots + garlic tahini sauce instead of dressing!!
I ended up grabbing a loaded salad (as per usual) and a Vega bar. Not too exciting, but it keeps me going.

When I got to the theatre, all the signs were set up on the walls telling us of schedules + where exactly our dressing rooms were. This year we share with a couple other divisions and it gets pretty loud, I guess. I've choked on hairspray at least twice today. There's also a lot of scrambling going on + costumes laying everywhere (ahem ahem, not as organized backstage as you think we are.)

I love seeing the intricate detailing on the costumes. They're all handmade with love.

The dressing room lights have always been so cool to me. It's the one thing about the performance venue that gets me into the mood and really seals the deal for me. It's a moment of literal reflection going: "Wow, this is it. This is me with a full face of makeup on, ready to showcase what I can do. This is it and I can do it."

LIGHTS OFF VS. LIGHTS ON.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring my phone up with me side-stage during the actual rehearsal. Gotta stay focused, right? But after a ton of waiting around and fixing up alignments (or as our instructor would say: "constellations" LOL), we bolted downstairs to eat. As I've said before, dancers eat more than you think! (Doesn't really help that I showed you my salad + energy bar). Here's Cloe sneaking some Fat Burger fries during break.

I stuck with my salad and plant-based bar, though she hand fed me a couple fries. Love you Clo-Money.

After a couple more onstage calls + changes from our director, our day was done. It was long, but we made it through.

Here's me peacing out for the day.

Love what you do.
