Here's me being super shameless about my 5 year imaginary relationship with One Direction. I can't believe I waited that long to finally see them live.. and yeah, it happened. Three days prior, my favourite member dropped the bomb that he was going to be a dad. Alright, alright. Let's be honest here - that didn't quite excite me. Instead it made me want to eat a tub of Ben & Jerry's and think of what it was like to be a 1D fan in 2011 again (anyone remember those days?). I went into the show feeling completely miserable and down about a couple things floating around my head... but left feeling rather content. Initially, when Zayn has announced his departure from the group, I was ready to sell my tickets. It wouldn't be the same (and it wasn't).

This wasn't exactly what I pictured my first One Direction concert to be like - in fact, not One Direction in it's entirety, but rather Harry/Niall/Louis/Liam; but it was still something.

ICONA POP

We spent the entire show walking around the stadium and surprisingly didn't get told off by security to find our seats. Not once. Towards the later parts of the show, we made our way to the front row (which was made vacant by a group of girls who left early) and it all still didn't seem real. It was like I was watching them on television, but they totally were within arms reach. Wasn't real to me once that night and it's still not real to me today. Everything about the show made me miss the tour family so much. It made me realize how truly grateful I am. I felt more than a little nostalgic and I could feel it in the lump in my throat and in my turning stomach.

Vocally, the concert was at its strongest. They sounded much better than their recorded work and it was the most evident during the slow songs. I was truly so proud to see Louis singing his solos a little more confident and dignified than I've seen in the past. 'No Control' was the most energy I saw being passed around the stadium the entire night (other than when a fan held up the "Niall has more tattoos than Naughty Boy has fans" sign)... and to know that he lead that crowd vitality was beyond me. Absolutely incredible.

Enough sappy, here's some comic relief for you... I was taking selfies while they were taking a moment to thank + talk to the crowd.

"Um, so yeah! This song's called 'No Control'!" -Louis

... and apparently I couldn't control my face... alright. Cool.

I was awake last night/morning until about 5 am thinking about everything. I had a lot on my mind. My best friend had just gone to sleep, telling me to "dream of Louis". The darkness outside started to fade to light, though my body wouldn't rest; nor would my mind. But then again... What's new? But back to the whole concert thing - call it what you may, but it just didn't seem real. It still doesn't.

Here are some mediocre photos from the night:

Props to Liam - who had the best vocals the entire night. I'd never heard him sing so well in my life.

These two are my personal favourite pics and products of being very good at making it to the front:

"Leave your crowd wanting more" they always say about great performers; "leave them with a cliff hanger in a book that is yet to be finished". Take it all in and enjoy the moment. This ride called life won't last forever...
