You are alright.

I woke up this morning with a weird pink glow into my windows. I was a bit confused at what it could be midst the gloomy winter weather.. I've been sleeping quite late studying for an exam lately and possibly my eyes were playing tricks on me. No tricks or illusions, the sky came out with a mix of beautiful colours.

All of the anxieties I had been feeling as of late completely washed away and I was overcome with peace.

A year in review // Best moments of 2014

Ah. It's that weird transitional time of the year again, midway through Christmas and New Years, when all you have planned is to recover from a food coma. Also that time of the year when those "2015 please be good to me" photos and statuses pop up on your feed. Bleh. Back to what I was saying, while food coma-ing, I gathered a list of my favourite memories of 2014, month by month- and boy do I have a lot to say and share. I learned SO many things this year, but the biggest one of them all was probably letting go of things/people that were once important to me; that once added value to my life. However- the truth I learned is that you don't actually need what you think you need to fulfill the hole your life. Materialistic things and crappy gimmicks/egotistic lies don't do you any good. Find peace and happiness within yourself THEN branch out to the world.

ANYWAYS. Done with that nonsense. Take a little peek into my favourite experiences of the year. Here's to a healthy/happy 2015! Be back when I awaken from my food coma!

Of course, being the music lover I am, I'm obviously going to give you guys a little write up on the best albums made this year. Aaaaand for your convenience, I attached my personal favourite tunes off of each album. Enjoy!

Ryan Adams // Ryan Adams

It's a little weird how much I love this album. You might have seen DRA'S self-titled at your local Starbucks in the CD pile by the registers. I highly recommend you actually pick it up and buy it! Listening to the guitar tones sound close to heaven. If you listen close enough you might actually be able to hear the angels singing! Hey- it also got nominated for a Grammy recently! Congrats Ryan + PAXAM.

12.9.14.

I'm all kinds of obsessed with turtlenecks and of course Matt Healy's style. I was watching an interview and I realized that I kinda had the same outfit he had on. I bought the cardigan out of repulsiveness while shopping for my best friend's birthday present (we have matching ones) - and it's probably one of the most comfy, yet warm overcoat I have. Oh and did I mention it was under $20?! Tie up a little topknot on your head and you're set. Christmas is approaching!

What inspires my fashion + look of the week

Recently, I was asked my inspiration behind my sense of style and what triggered my infatuation with fashion. I soon realized that I couldn't give a proper answer and all I could come up with was "I don't know". But what I do know is that fashion to me is way more than just an "I don't know".

What better way to justify fashion than on a little blog post.

Maybe cliche, but clothing is my favourite creative outlet. I love to dress myself. As narcissistic as that sounds, I swear I enjoy doing other things; writing, reading, ballet, etc. (just to clarify). My outfit policy is comfort, creativity + confidence. All three are traits that our generation of young people seem to lack, sadly. I want to be able to help bring out those traits, even if it is as simple as giving someone a compliment.

I find myself satisfied with often being called "edgy" and doing my part by dressing "edgy". It's always how I convey my personality. I ALWAYS appreciate compliments/comments about what I wear/how I style my clothes, but at the end of the day, I think it all comes down to the level of comfort/creativity/confidence you have.. In your clothing, but more importantly with yourself.

Be able to compliment freely and make people feel good about themselves, but also be comfortable with what you wear and ultimately, be comfortable with yourself.

That being said... Here's an outfit I've really enjoyed wearing lately made up of basic components; jeans, a turtleneck, open poncho, and boots, styled with a pair of glasses.

IN MY MIND

"It started out in the desert / we put it all on film"

Hey all! I apologize for the lack of entries lately, as I've been extra loaded with work/the hectic Nutcracker production/and the launch of our youtube channel.

Over the course of the summer, I bought a cheap little expired (haha) disposable camera and took it around with me throughout my travels. A lot, and by a lot I mean, A LOT of people have asked me countless times why I chose to take photos on a disposable when I have an amazing quality DSLR.

It's the fun of it all. Not seeing your photos until you get it developed, the surprise of how interestingly your shots turn out. It's all about that feeling you get when you see your pictures for the first time, weeks and weeks after taking them. Memories flood back; at least for me, that was the case.

Here are a few of my favourite photos:

Megan and I goofing off. We look like tomatoes.

L: I accidentally held onto the flash, which glared off of the airplane window, but it turned out pretty interestingly. // R: Everything in that exact moment was so perfect and beautiful. The sun woke me up that morning + I felt so thankful to be alive.

L: I visited OAKNYC's new location and fell in loOoove. // R: Taken midway through the desert. The skies were big and my heart was full.

I wrote captions on the back of the print, as well as the exact time + date they were taken. Summer is long gone and fall is headed in full swing, but these pictures will always remind me of the memories I had on the road. I highly recommend you take a chance with film before digital photos wipe them out.

Futuristic Fashion

Here's an outfit I quickly put together one morning in California and decided to shoot. While packing, I found a leather jumper I hardly ever use. I paired it with a black turtleneck + some gold bangles/rings/jewelry from my grandma.

What really sealed the outfit for me were the funky sunglasses. I love the whole "futuristic" look! Thank goodness for the free bin at vintage thrift stores!
