a rant on : goals/dreams/education/talent/career etc..

Pursuing an education is probably one of the biggest things in my life right now. To even begin to describe the amount of pressure I feel is so difficult.. it would be an understatement to only measure it by saying "a lot". I'm sure some of you reading this have felt similarly at some point or can resonate with this whole idea of educational pursuit. Being able to pursue an education is something we disregard so quickly mainly because it's readily accessible to us. It's such a privilege to go to school everyday -- I wish the kids of this and the next and all the following generations would/will know. I wish I would stop complaining about how early my alarm is set for class in the morning; little things like that should be irrelevant. Some will never even get the opportunity. Some will never know what it is like to be able to get to learn like we do.

Who really opened my eyes to this was Ryan Adams. He raised a point about attitude that has always been unforgettable to me. "Man, I gotta get up and do three interviews today, I've got a performance on BBC, then a show...". He then said, "I don't know how it's going to be, but I'm going to have an amazing time doing it. Even if I cannot seem to produce any alchemy, man, I'm going to be in the lab and I'm gonna be mixing all the ingredients. I get to do it. It's so great. I get to do this." The way he started that sentence was "I get to". We get to. We get to learn. We get to have an education. We get the opportunity to do things, yet still, people don't take what is in front of them.

We get to be who we want to be.

Being what/who you want to be. That's what it comes down to - what you want to be; not what people want you to be. After all, you live the life you have at the end of the day... not anyone else. That being said - SET GOALS, and I don't mean abide by other people's goals for you. If you work hard enough, you can quite literally do anything. There is absolutely no point of doing something you don't have the passion for and no point in pursing a career you don't find interest in -- at your cost, for someone else's satisfaction. You will never please everyone. This is important to remember.

You will fall on your face. I can almost say that with 100% certainty. But if you have a talent, USE IT. This blog/any writing endeavour is my attempt at scratching the surface of something I believe I possess an ounce of skill in. The more you work on your craft and dedicate time and effort towards it, the better you learn it. Believe it or not, regardless of what anyone says about the profession you wish to pursue - you are needed by someone. Someone in this world needs help sizing shoes. Someone in this world needs someone to represent them in court. Someone in this world needs help choosing what Saint Laurent dress they want to wear today. Bottom line: Whatever profession you decide on... Somebody needs you. It's never a competition. Let's all help each other get to where we want to be.

I promise you that life can be absolutely anything you want it to be if you put your mind to it. Don't sell yourself short by settling for something you don't actually want. Live up to your own expectations. Keep doing your thing, keep helping others and the world will follow.
