If there's one constant in my life - it's always family. The weirdest thing was being able to meet up with family from the Philippines... in California. It was all basically in the spur of the moment.
"Hey, you guys here?!"
"Be there soon"
"Cool, let's meet up. This is such a trip."
We threw an impromptu dance party and ate boxes and boxes of pizza. Made noise, got chased down hallways. Heavily crammed an elevator. Took pics. All in a couple of hours.
After eating out of fast food joints for a few consecutive days straight, you'd realize that it gets super tiring and you can feel the effect on your body big time. Visiting Cafe Gratitude, a cute little organic vegan restaurant, felt the closest to home and sparked comfort in me. Choosing to eat healthy puts me at ease because I know that what I choose to eat will reward my body in the future. (This all stems from watching too many Ted Talks and nutrition documentaries before bed.)
Sunset Boulevard + the hollywood area is a place we never seem to shy away from on California trips. I love the distracting street art and being able to people watch. We spent late afternoon driving around the city and stepping out to go into Amoeba. One of the employees at the record store said he admired my outfit and said my style was "incredible". I didn't really take it as much because I was wearing a basic mono-coloured outfit with a jacket that looked like it was made of my hair.
Out in LA, there's a little spot filled with many pillars of lights that I had never been to - LACMA, a museum of lights. I've always seen the place on every fashion blogger's instagram or just floating around my tumblr dash. So one little night in LA after having a bite to eat at Urth Caffe, we headed out to take a few shots around the area.
After all, Los Angeles is the city of shining lights and starry eyes.
Flying 35 000 feet up in the air can easily be one of the best and worst times. I find that as I get older and as I board more and more planes, I get a lot more anxious and frightened by it. I hate being enclosed in a tight capsule spaceship thing and the initial take off has me digging my nails into the sides of my seat for dear life. Each ride holds some weird uncertainty to me, full of nauseating turbulence and strangers I've never seen in my life.
